Google Honors French Photographer: Doisneau

Google honors Robert Doisneau, a renowned French photographer who pioneered in photojournalism with a Google Doodle on April 14, 2012, being that is the day he was born.

Doisneau is a well known French photographer and gave an unusual air of dignity and prominence to photography of everyday moments. His skill is shown in Le baiser de l'hotel de ville (Kiss by Hotel de Ville) a prominent piece in French photography.

Aside from that he served in World War II drafted as a soldier and a photographer. He was hired for the Vogue whose editirs believed he would provide a fresh look for the magazine but disliking photographing beautiful women in elegant surroundings because he preferred street photography much more.

It wasn't until Life when he achieved prominence with Le baiser de l'hotel de ville (Kiss by Hotel de Ville

Unfortunately, he died in 1994 due to triple heart bypass, six months after her wife who died of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

Facebook buys Instagram for $1 billion

Facebook plans to buys Instagr.am for an approximate billion in combined stock and cash. The deal is intended to close this quarter.

What is Instagram to Facebook? Instagram does have a large user-base but Facebook has a larger one. Mark Zuckerberg says that he wants to operate Instagram as a separate app and doesn't just want to integrate everything into Facebook.

Considering that Instagram garnered 30 million users in a year, it was bound to grow. Buying Instagram was a offensive and defensive move. Remember YouTube & Google in 2006? That's exactly what it seems like.

Also the way Facebook plans to operate Instagram sounds a lot like how Google runs YouTube.

More to come, stay around. Comment on your thoughts.

I know I haven't posted in over a week. Sorry :)

April Fools's Day On the Web

Well, it's that time of the year and there have been interesting incidents on the Internet for April Fool's Day.

Conan 0'Brien, the late night talk show host took over Mashable for $3500 and told Pete Cashmore to "Get Out." It didn't really happen but I bet a lot of us had a WT* moment when we first saw the post title, only to realize that it's April Fool's day.

Transcript:

Hello, fellow Mashables. It’s Conan O’Brien, and I’ve got big news. Two hours ago, I purchased Mashable.com. I’ve taken it over. Why did I take it over? Very simple reason.I’m sick and tired of scanning the Internet looking for any news about technology: Devices, gadgets, what’s coming up, maybe even a rating system for gadgets that are out there. It doesn’t exist on the web and it’s high time it did.I go to the Mashable see the atrocious job they’re doing. So I decided it’s time for me to take it over. That’s why, several hours ago, I called Pete Cashmore and I told him, “You’re out! Get out! You’re through Cashmore! Through! Get out!”Of course, keep in mind, I was screaming “Get out” from a phone call and he was speaking at home…So it wasn’t clear what I was throwing him out of. We straightened that out.He said, “You’ll have to buy me out.” I said, “Buy you out? How about thirty-five hundred smackeroos?” He didn’t know what smackeroos were, but we talked again. There’s going to be a lot of changes around here. So stay tuned, cause I’m in charge now. I’m going to be sending out a lot of tweets!
Pirate Bay bought German airspace. It was advertised on their homepage. As soon as I saw it, I though that it was an April Fool's Day joke. The comment threads told me otherwise.

Google News was fooled by Forbes. The credible news source decided to have some fun and ran a story about Mitt Romney dropping out of the race and giving his regards to Santorum. It was removed later on tho

“In a surprise move, Mitt Romney announced today that he is ending his presidential campaign and throwing hissupport behind Rick Santorum. The move shocked observers, including Senator Santorum, as Governor Romneyseemed poised for a decisive victory in Wisconsin. The governor, however, said he concluded that he has ‘nochance’ to win the general election in December and that a Santorum candidacy in 2012 would be in t‘best interest of the party.’”
